Dohme was among the first group of art historians to consider the Baroque an area worthy of art historical study, including Cornelius Gurlitt (q.v.), Heinrich Wölfflin (q.v.), Albert Brinckmann (q.v.), August Schmarsow (q.v.), Alois Riegl (q.v.), and Adolf Feulner (q.v.).
