Murray, S[teuben] Butler, Jr. Date born: 1888 Place Born: Date died: Place died: Founder of the Columbia University Department of Fine Arts; Chair to 1933. Murray taught as the head of the Department of Fine Arts at Wells College. In 1921 Murray was named assistant professor of Fine Arts at Columbia, where he had also been lecturing in the Department of Greek and Latin.
