Schottmuller, Frida Date born: 1872 Place Born: Berlin, Germany Date died: 1936 Place died: Berlin, Germany Art historian and curator. Wrote her thesis at the University of Zurich in 1903 under Heinrich Wölfflin (q.v.). Schottmuller accepted a position in the Italian Renaissance division at the Kaiser Friedrich-Wilhelm Museum, where she wrote text exhibits called "period rooms." Period rooms displayed art in its historical and cultural context. She wrote catalogues for the museum's Spanish and Baroque sculptures, as well as for private collectors in Berlin.
