Tietze, Hans Date born: 1880 Place born: Prague, Czechoslovakia Date died: 1954 Place died: New York, NY One of the "Vienna School" art historians; wrote a major "principles of art history" monograph; one of the founders of the Baroque Museum, Vienna. Married to art historian Erika Tietze-Conrat (q.v.). Tietze held an ad personam chair in Stryzgowski's (?) Erstes Kunsthistorisches Institut. Among the scholars who were influenced by him were Otto Kurz (q.v.). Tietze's early research into the Bolognese Anibale Carracci (1906), perhaps influence Kurz to write his dissertation on the (still unfashionable) Guido Reni.
